Just like every time we change, we gain some things, we lose some things, but ultimately, we persevere. Some of the early beta versions of Tiger were really just a barely functional mockup of what it should look like. Since those versions (which I left some rather blunt feedback for), the IT and User teams at Gawker have done quite a bit with it. Will there be issues? yep. Are there currently? yep. Will they roll out new features which don't work? maybe. Will we come to love it, yet again, in the great big circle of kinja? I would imagine so.

I'd just be happy if Jalopnik wasn't the test bed for all of their beta fuckery. Release that shit on Jezebel or Gawkers main site first and then let it trickle down to us. . . I dunno I guess I'll see if I like it tomorrow. . . Hopefully we get another week or two of Oppo being untouched. . .

AFAIK, Oppo won't be touched yet ... And Jalopnik has a history of being the beta testers. I would imagine it has to do with the community, and the staff. Eventually everyone will switch over, and there will be no bastions. Probably won't be like the Kinja switchover with the folks who hid on the australian and canadian websites. LOL.

Sploid, Valleywag and Product have it, but with the arguable exception of Sploid, Jalopnik be the first major site to roll it out live. I don't believe any of the other sites have rolled it out yet. (BRB, checking).

Edit: checked, unless I missed a post elsewhere on the other sites, it looks like we'll be the first out of the gate again.

It would be a lot easier on those of us that just want to browse if we could attach car pictures to complaints. Using your workaround to posting just to complain? NOPE! Post something cool with your complaint so you don't look like a whiner. Can't get an image to post? Too bad. Nobody wants to hear how Kinja doesn't work when you don't even bother to tag it with Kinja Help and some useful info. Bah. It's just the complainers who make the changes unbearable.

Sploid is, as best as I can tell, kind of like Jesus Diaz's headline news version of Kinja/Gawker/Gizmodo. It used to be front (and front.kinja.com redirects to it).

It's become who we are as Jalopnik commenters. We beta test and get the new stuff first. I think that the staff probably has something to do with it. And the demographics of the commenting base here.

I'm sure if the Jezzies got it first it would be a month long bitch fest. . . and I guess we are the more bitch and moan then get over it crowd . . . I'm just sick of being the first group to have to deal with the teething pains of every new iteration of Kinja. But then again I'm not in control of it and maybe it just might be worth while this time. . .
